Day 4 – Creativity continues in the Bay

Another kid-friendly attraction on the Go card was the Zeum Children’s Museum in the Yerba Buena Gardens.  Zeum’s mission is all about creativity through interactive and technological exhibits.  This was another great find for the kids!

The legos in the lobby kept Michael entertained, and this was just the beginning…

In the Animators Studio, we created a 5-second clay animation movie.  We built our own characters or figures out of wire and clay.  Jason made a horse, and I made a rocket.  The horse galloped around and scoped out the rocket before it took off to space.  We tied a string to the rocket to make it lift-off!  Michael didn’t make anything, instead he filled his nails with clay.

Adelyn dressed up as a princess and stood in front of a green screen to record her own music video of the ABC song.  She is a performer!  She’s not afraid to sing in front of a big crowd.  I was so proud of her!

Our passes included two rides on this historic hand-carved carousel which was constructed in Rhode island over 100 years ago.

The next thing on our agenda was to get French macarons – my new favorite dessert!  We walked 1.5 miles to Chantal Guillon in Hayes Valley to grab a box of macarons.  Every flavor was delicious!  (I liked them better than Bottega Louie’s.)

It’s hard to describe what a french macaron is.  All I can say is that it is good.

For dinner, we took BART to the nicer part of Oakland for dinner at Zachary’s.  We loved Zachary’s when we lived in the bay, and we knew that we had to have dinner here one night…after all a vacation isn’t just about what you see, it’s also about what you eat!  Zachary’s has the BEST deep dish pizza we’ve ever had.  Mike and Nicole also loved it and thought it was worth staying out til 11pm.

We pretty much did everything that we really wanted to do in the bay.  We had a partial day left before we had to head home, so anything on top of what we already did was going to be an added plus.
