Day 2 continued…
We arrived at the Bay Area Discovery Museum just in time for a very organic lunch and a few hours of unstructured play that nurtures childhood creativity. The museum comprised of halls with different themes plus several outdoor activities. We tried to cover as much ground as we could, but Michael had his favorites and spent a lot of time in a few of the exhibits. I wish we had this museum in socal.
The kids started off at Lookout Cove where there was a great view of the bay.
All aboard the Bonnie (an authentic fishing boat) where Michael imagined riding out to sea.
Michael spent most of his time in the Curious George exhibit. He’s a big fan of monkeys…can’t you tell by his monkey sweater?
He found a golfing station!
He was very interested to go to work at this blocks conveyor belt. He did a great job taking turns with the other kids.
A lover of music, Michael had to play with the wooden xylophone.
Jason carried the bridge with two fingers!
Michael also has an affinity for water and sea creatures. He could’ve played here for hours, but our time at the museum was coming to an end.
The clouds were rolling into the bay, and we still had another 2 mile bike ride to the ferry stop in Sausalito. We were on the home stretch until I “took a little digger” as Adelyn would call it, and fell off my bike! I ended up with a sore, scuffed up knee, but it wasn’t going to be a vacation stopper. So the bike riding adventure continued…
The kids waited patiently for the ferry and were just being goofy! =)
We took a 30 minute ferry ride to the Embarcadero, and had to ride another mile or so back to the bike rental shop.
At Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier 39, we enjoyed a clam chowder, caesar salad, and crab melt dinner, and saved 20% with our Go card. We also had the freshest cinnamon sugar donuts for dessert!
We rode on a double decker carousel at the pier!
The last time we took pictures at this spot was when Michael was a few weeks old.
The sea lions were still busy mating south of the border. According to the information sign, they would return at the end of July. We were a week too early.
