We visited the Kidspace Museum in Pasadena with cousin Christina this morning. Kidspace is a complete sensory experience that allows kids to engage all their senses through play. Research shows that child-initiated play lays a foundation for learning and academic success. Play helps children make sense of and find their place in the world. And that’s what Kidspace exhibits promote.
First stop…
*The Digging Deeper Gallery*
You can climb this to the top to see the entire museum (or so they say). Michael was too afraid and this is about as high as he got.
Just a little too high…and that was enough for him. So down he went, and found an underground ant tunnel. No pictures there because I was an honorary ant as well…
Chef’s Specialty: The Poo-Poo Platter… How appetizing!
Next Stop…
*Wisteria Courtyard*
In the kids’ corner, toddlers can splash, play and climb
And ride… There’s even a separate area with paths for veteran trikers.
Kids can play the drums using water pistols. This was Michael’s favorite activity! I’m not surprised…
Last stop…
*The Gardens*
This area simulated the water cycle – from rain to river to evaporation and back to rain. All the kids came in their swim trunks and water shoes. They splashed around in the not so clean water. Michael wasn’t too sure about it either. (I don’t think it was chlorinated…)
Overall, it was a fun experience. Everything is hands on – perfect for toddlers with curious minds. Thanks Christina! We’ll spend more time at Americana on our next outing.
