Michael turned 2!! I still can't believe how quickly the last year has gone by, and I'm so grateful that I've been able to be there for Michael every second of every day for the past 2 years. Looking back at his 18 month update, Michael has grown tremendously - specifically his vocabulary. He hasn't had his 2 year well-baby visit yet, so I will update his physical stats in a later post. I'm not sure what the developmental milestones are for a 2 year old, but I am so amazed at all the new things he learns and can do.
- Vocabulary - He can say almost anything and will repeat everything you say. We noticed this when colorful words are echoed after we have outbursts. He knows everyone's names who he sees regularly. He can name certain stores when we pull into the parking lot like - Home Depot, Target, Costco, and ChuckECheese. Maybe he can read? Or maybe we just visit these places a little too frequently? In addition to being able to identify the uppercase letters of the alphabet, he can point out numbers 0-9, and can count to 15 with some help.
- Colors - He knows most of the basic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. He knows black and white too.
- Body Parts - We are now starting to teach him the names of his body parts in Tagalog (the Filipino language), and so far he knows head, armpits and feet.
- Sports - He knows each sport by name. By far, his favorite ones to play are Golf, Basketball and Baseball. When playing baseball, he has to pitch. Watch out he has a great arm!
- He can ride a tricycle very well. In fact, he rides it all around the cul-de-sac and is learning how to steer. He is also trying to ride a scooter.
- Without a pacifier, his new sleeping aid is me singing "Rock a bye baby".
Favorites:
- Food - Soybeans, tofu, rice, cookies, chocolate covered raisins and ice cream
- TV Show - SuperWhy!
- Ride at Disneyland - Buzz Lightyear
- Ride at Knotts - Red Baron (airplanes)
- Color - Red because of the Angels
