Since our trip to San Francisco was centered around public transportation, we thought that we’d give So Cal’s a shot. We heard that the OC Flyer offered direct routes to the OC Fair on the weekends for only $1.25 each way. Plus, they give you $2 vouchers for admission to the fair…that’s a $9 savings per person, AND we don’t have to wait in ridiculous, long parking lines or pay for parking. It sounded so good that we looked up where the bus stops were, and there was one about 2 miles away at the Anaheim Canyon Metrolink Station. It was meant to be. So, we invited Lolo, Lola and Tita Carmel on our Fair Adventure.
This was Lolo’s first bus ride EVER
The bus was clean and airy…not like the ones in the Bay area. We shared the bus with a bunch of party goers…the same crowd that would take the Amtrak to the horse races in Del Mar. One word to describe the atmosphere… LOUD!
The money we saved went towards Michael’s games. He won a UCLA basketball!
He also won a turtle, an angry bird, and a goldfish which we donated to another kid.
Couldn’t pass up a few rounds of golf at the Sierra Mist booth
Our first food stop (of many) was the Australian battered potatoes. Loved it with ranch and cheese!
We didn’t get to visit the fair as often as we did in previous years, but we figured that once would be enough for the year. It’s expensive!! On our ride home, the same loud people were on board but intoxicated…you can imagine how much louder it was. One guy had henna drawn on his face above his eyebrow like Mike Tyson’s in the movie “The Hangover 2”, and Michael asked him, “What’s wrong with your face??” HAHA!
