Jay’s Halloween Bash

We had a little Halloween celebration at Tita Jay’s house where all guests were required to wear costumes.  The house was all decked out in spooky Halloween decorations which kind of frightened Michael in the beginning, but after he recognized where he was and who everyone was underneath their costumes, he started to have a good time.  We played dancing games on the Kinect, and I rocked it to Michael’s favorite song “Fly Like a G6.”  We also played pass the pumpkin with an adult twist.  It was a fun-filled night!

Michael showed up as a boxer. This was costume #3 for the season, and the ultimate winner.

He makes such an adorable boxer. Watch out for his punches!

Knotts’ Spooktacular Halloween

Halloween has become a popular holiday which has kept us filled with activities every weekend this month!  Today, we checked out Knotts’ Camp Spooky which wasn’t even spooky at all.  It was held during the daytime, and all the Peanuts characters were dressed in their non-scary Halloween costumes.  Best of all, they had five trick-or-treating stations, which was plenty for Michael.

As soon as we got there, the Halloween Spooktacular was about to begin.  I don’t know if it was because of the heat, but Jason and Michael didn’t seem too impressed with the show.

IMG_3738

We saw Sally hiding in the Hay-maze. She couldn’t keep her eyes off my boys…

Snoopy dressed up too!  Michael loves this cuddly dog as much as I do!

Jason and Michael played a few carnival games. One nice kid won this stuffed toy and was so sweet he gave it to Michael.

We headed home just after lunch for a nice nap before going to Jay’s Halloween Bash.  Stay tuned…

Great Park Pumpkin Harvest

The OC Great Park hosted a free pumpkin harvest event with a bunch of activities, treat stations, and free pumpkins for kids.  A few food banks were there accepting canned goods for this Thanksgiving season, and we wanted to help those in need so we participated by bringing several cans of food.  The lines for all the activity stations were so long that we stopped after two booths, had lunch and decided to spend time with a real firetruck and in the rock-play area.

Disney…Where the Magic Begins!

We slowly headed over to DCA for some mommy and Michael quality time.  And when I say slowly, I mean very slowly…we got there after lunch!

IMG_3658

As soon as we arrived, we got in line for the Disney Junior Playhouse Show.  When asked to shout out his name, he yelled “THOR!”  The funny thing is that before Jason and I had him, we were joking about naming our little boy Thor.  IMG_3631

He wasn’t in the mood to ride any rides, so we spent the next few hours in the Animation Building.  Don’t know how but by the time we exited, our 3 hour parking was up.

IMG_3638

He spun everything he could spin.

IMG_3645

And spent a lot of time in the Beast’s magical library.  Today he was most like Mushu, the dragon from Mulan.

IMG_3647

We did a little bit of drawing.  Michael was the loudest student.  Heads kept turning his way.

IMG_3648

It turns out that he is quite an artist…look at how great his Tigger sketch turned out!

IMG_3667

He was such a good boy, we stopped for some cookies n cream ice cream! Delish!

Cal Poly Pumpkin Festival

The Cal Poly Pumpkin Festival has got to be the best pumpkin event that we’ve ever visited, and it’s always been very hot!  Everyone parks at the school and pulls their children filled wagons across the street to a huge gated field filled with all kinds of pumpkins!  And at the end of the event, you see tired, heat exhausted children walking while the pumpkins enjoy the long wagon ride back to the car.  Thankfully, we went home with only 2 large pumpkins so Michael had a seat in his wagon.  This year, we feasted on some pulled pork and tri-tip sandwiches, sweet potato fries, kettle corn, pumpkin filled wontons, and pumpkin donuts.  Everything was fantastic and the donuts were to die for!  There were plenty of dollar activities and prizes for the kids that Michael had a great time.

IMG_3591

The first booth that got Michael’s attention was the golfing game…of course!

IMG_3598

Michael led the way through the corn maze!

IMG_3619

Michael was preoccupied with his lollipop that it hindered his ability to pick out good pumpkins.  He always went for the dirty, rotten crooked ones.

Irvine Park Pumpkin Patch

We had some family fun before Jason’s trip to France at Irvine Park’s Pumpkin Patch.  They featured a bounce house, a hay maze, a haunted house, tractor ride, a bunch of cardboard photo cutouts, snacks, games, and pumpkins of all shapes and sizes.

Michael is 2-1/2 Yrs Old!

Where did the time go?  Where did my little boy go??  Time sure flies when you’re enjoying life, and I wouldn’t trade these past 2-1/2 years for anything in the world.  Having Michael changed my life, and I’m grateful for being able to share about 1,314,000 minutes with him...and excited for more!  (I’m hoping I still get my math right. HAHA)

Anyway, Michael is now officially a big boy, and just for our records, I thought I’d do an update.

IMG_3479 Here is Michael Damian at 2.5 years old.

(35.5 inches tall and 30.5 lbs)

IMG_3470

He is quite a ham. He LOVES to dance and sing.

IMG_3051 - Copy

He loves anything sweet especially cake pops, french macaroons, chocolate flavored yogurtland, and mint chocolate chip ice-cream.

His favorite foods are beans, rice, tofu, miso soup, broccoli, carrots, peas and anything with oats.

IMG_3054

He sleeps in a big boy bed all by himself. I’m proud to say that he’s never gotten up in the middle of the night, but he sleeps around midnight.

IMG_3063

He likes to collect Yogurtland Hello Kitty spoons, pencils, and golf tees.  He has quite the imagination and loves to play pretend.  Here he set up a Yogurtland shop - his toys were customers and got their own spoon.

IMG_3462

He’s such a sweetheart and is really loving despite his affinity for boxing and “play”fighting.  He has an infectious laugh and makes everyone smile.  He’s sensitive when he sees mommy sad, and will give me a hug and kiss to make me happy, but is the total opposite when it comes to his daddy.  He’s very smart and has an ongoing love of learning.  Oh, and he wants a brother (but that won’t be a birthday present).

And here are a few more Michael favorites:

  • TV Shows: Little Einsteins, Team Umi Zoomi, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  These shows highlight numbers and shapes, and that’s what fascinate him at the moment.
  • Games: Playing on the computer – Pbs kids and Disney junior games, Puzzles, Cards and Hide n Seek
  • Sports: Golf, Basketball, Baseball
  • Colors: Red and Blue
  • Arts and Crafts: Practicing how to cut in straight lines, how to glue and color within the lines. He loves to paint and enjoys making a mess more than his final product.
  • Vocabulary: There’s nothing he can’t say or comprehend.  He listens to our conversations and interjects, but has the SWEETEST little voice ever!
  • Potty Trained?? Not fully, but he goes potty everyday!
