Park Day

Who likes to stay home on nice sunny days like today?  Definitely not us.  So we decided to go to the covered Fullerton Sports Park for some nice, shady outdoor fun.

Malia turns 3!

We went to Founders Park in Brea to celebrate Malia’s 3rd birthday.  Malia is the daughter of my longtime friend Mary.  Mary and I reconnected many years after high school when we both lived up in the bay area.  The funny thing is that we bumped into each other while grocery shopping at Safeway, and the rest is history…

Happy 3rd Birthday, Malia!

IMG_1645Michael picked a few flowers for the birthday girl.  She was super giddy!

IMG_1649  He looks so grown up in this pic.  Where did my little boy go?

IMG_1653 Getting more brave.  He’s climbing and hanging on his own.  Makes me a little nervous though.

IMG_1674 Malia had such fancy desserts: cake pops, delicious cupcakes, a cake from 85C, and Bottega Louie French macarons

IMG_1679 Michael taste tested each dessert and thought they were all so incredibly good.

It’s a good thing we came to the party because he was the only kid there.  Malia and Michael had such a great time together.  They picked flowers and threw petals into the pool.  When the sun came out, they got down to their underwear/diapers and splashed around in the pool.  They’re giggles were so cute!  Thanks for inviting us to your party Malia!

A Different California Adventure

Michael and I had no errands to run today.  Earlier in the week, we played at a park, went shopping, and cleaned the house (after destroying it of course).  So we decided to go to California Adventures and do things we normally wouldn’t do – like watch shows and meet characters.

IMG_1621 First, we said hello to Minnie Mouse who was getting ready to take off in her plane

IMG_1624Michael’s not afraid of oversized mice.  Such a sweet farewell to Minnie Mouse.

IMG_1627Then we checked out Mater and Lightning McQueen.

IMG_1628 Apparently Mickey has a favorite bear named Duffy

IMG_1634During the Monster's Inc Show, this orange monster gave Michael the longest hug.  Everyone said if this picture turned out good, I should send it to Disney.

IMG_1638 After a few hours of fun in the sun, we had to go home for a nap, but as we exited DCA, Michael said “No go home. No Michael’s house. No nap. No close eyes.”  He had a lot to say, so we hung out for a while longer and enjoyed some Jamba Juice.

Disneyland with Nana

It’s really been like 5 months since we’ve gone to Disneyland with Nana, so today we took her to the Happiest Place on Earth.  The rain was pouring all morning, and as soon as the clouds broke, we were on our way.  It turned out to be such a beautiful day too!  At Disneyland, we rode on Snow White, Casey Jr, the Carousel, and visited Dale.  Then we headed to California Adventures to ride Flik’s Flyers, enjoy a “schmoozie” and pick out cool Disney Mr. Potato Head accessories.

Michael had a great time with you at Disneyland Nana.  It’s such a treat for him to be able to spend quality time with you.

Double Trouble

We are going to have Ethan over on Thursdays for a few weeks, which will allow the two boys to spend some quality time together.  This will be nice because they don’t get to see each other as often as you’d imagine, but when they play together, they are totally best buds.  In some ways, it’s easier to watch two kids because they entertain each other…but the mess is bigger.

IMG_1493 Snacking in the playhouse.  They each have their own seat at the table that swivels in and out.

IMG_1497Still snacking.  All that hard playing made them hungry.

IMG_1501Michael took a break from the house and wanted to play baseball

IMG_1508Ethan was busy in the house making some lunch.

Whoopie Pie! Sophie Turns 4!

We went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate Sophie’s 4th birthday.  They remodeled the place recently making it nice and clean.  It was definitely the perfect place to host a birthday, especially for a weekday since we practically had the place to ourselves.  We enjoyed Emily’s new dessert creation – a whoopie pie, and we are definitely fans of that!  Happy birthday, Sophie!  Michael is so lucky to have you as a friend. =)

IMG_1488  This is how you eat a whoopie pie. It looks less messy to eat than a cupcake.

IMG_1492Nope.  It’s equally as messy and equally as good. Yum yum!

Haircut Time!

Michael’s hair is starting to thicken up, and personally I think he looks better with less hair or even bald like when he was a baby.  So we decided it was time for a haircut (again).  We ditched Cool Cuts because they’re just too expensive for the quality of cut they give.  Yes, they have cool cars, movies, trains, lollipops, and every distraction you can possibly name, but we’re here for a haircut, and if you can’t give my kid a decent cut, well then you won’t get my business.  Instead, we just went to a regular barber behind our house.  It had a tattoo parlor feel, but they did such a great job.  Michael was very comfortable giggling on his daddy’s lap while getting tickled by the buzzing of the clippers.
